Don Cheadle’s Rooftop Chip Shot Banks $5000 AUFA Gift from Jay Leno

When Don Cheadle was a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last Friday night, it wasn’t his upcoming role in the blockbuster film Iron Man 2 or his recent honor as U.N. Goodwill Ambassador that got everyone’s attention. It was his impressive rooftop chip shot for charity that garnered all the applause.

During the show, Jay Leno made a friendly golf wager with Cheadle that if he hit a makeshift green located 120 yards across Bob Hope Drive from the rooftop of the NBC studios in Burbank, Calif., the Tonight Show would donate $5,000 to Ante Up For Africa. Not a bad bet. Using a 9 iron, Cheadle landed the ball just yards away from the green on his first try, and while his second attempt was a tad off the mark, he was able to get it done on his third swing thanks to a little help from The Tonight Show’s Ross Matthews.

The generous $5,000 donation from the Tonight Show with Jay Leno will benefit Ante Up For Africa and its partner organizations: Refugees International, The Enough Project and Darfur Peace and Development Organization.
