Why Africa

After failing to stop the 1994 genocide that claimed the lives of over 800,000 innocent people in Rwanda, the worldwide response was “never again.” Yet similar horrors are unfolding in Africa today, plaguing a continent filled with so much promise.

In Sudan, Africa’s largest country, an indicted war criminal named Omar al-Bashir is running the government. For over six years, he has orchestrated a genocide against the people of Darfur, killing over 300,000 people. Three million more people were driven from their homes into squalid camps for refugees and the displaced, where they are effectively prisoners.” Persistent instability and violence stoked by the Bashir regime prevents Darfuris from returning to their home villages.
